About This Unique Star Observing Site:

Gold Mountain Observing Center (GOMOC) was conceived and founded on a dream that a "place" needed to be created for amateur astronomers that was local, contained adequate amenities for families, and was FREE. A large garage is provided to store member’s telescopes, as well as our instruments, an 6”F/15, an 6”F/5.6 refractors, a pair of 25X127 binoculars, and several smaller Newtonians and lenses.

A library/meeting room is also available to members. A large screen TV is provided for astro work as well as for viewing our astronomy related video library. Finally, a machine/workshop is available for members to work on their personal telescope projects.

A large BBQ area is provided along with other camping amenities. Ample FREE parking.

Part of our mission is to create a complete astronomical experience, and to our greatest pleasure we have acquired several mirror making/grinding machines. And glass blank cutting machines.

We can now cut (up to 24") glass blanks for making mirrors, and by utilizing our new polishing machines, in our mirror making facility, we hope to aid ATM's in making their scopes

An optical bench is now added to aid in mirror figuring prior to aluminizing members mirrors. We highly encourage those wanting to make a mirror, or those already skilled, to feel free to check us out. Help in any phase of mirror making is greatly appreciated, and can only enhance the ATM experience at GOMOC.
